DIY color block planters

Need any excuse to get your hands in this pic 🙂 🙂 pretty colors and cotton swabs.. aren’t they tempting

I used them to create these color block planters..

Well in this pic they are still in the process…

 

For this simple DIY you need:

• Planters of your choice
• duct tape
• acrylic paints of your choice: it largely depends on what pots you are using. Clay would need something else. But i used plastic. So acrylic paints worked fine for me.

Instructions:

1. Tape the planters in pattern of your choice or just random. Like I did!

And Paint!!!!

Now i have always had difficulty with acrylic paints almost on every material. So in this case too when I used paint brush, it gave me really dreary lines all over with a total yuck effect! So i dropped brush and used cotton swabs instead. As you can see in this picture the different strokes I got while using the two.

Anyone else having this difficulty?!?!

Let me know your solutions or maybe the riight way of using acrylic paints 😀

So cotton swabs are a winner for me!!!

And this is the end result!!!! I looooooove the pop of color and the life they are bringing to these plants! And my window sill!!

I let them dry for a few days!! before peeling the tape off! Well it was more out of procrastination than any other reason. But when I did peel, they were completely dry and whenI peeled them I had to line the tape with a scale where the paint and tape were meeting. Just to separate them, otherwise it was the paint off!!

That is all the work I put into this project!!!

Girls bedroom reveal part 2

I have shared the girls bedroom makeover part 1 here.. Its time for the rest of the room. It has been a while I have been on this journey of room makeover! which was honestly alllllot of work!

I shared the first part! which covers the bed and the DIY Feature Wall : Color block wall.

The rest of the room is the wall facing it which has the tv unit, the writing table, the storage areas, the toy swing and the chevron boxes as well as the ikea storage table_ and almost all of them are DIYs! one way or the other!!

The bookshelf as I mentioned in the part 1 post was a cheap ikea bed frame floating shelves!!

 

 

This side of the wall was painted grey somehow. According to the earlier plan of the room it was supposed to be a twin room for an infant baby boy and my toddler girl. But change of plans we bought a queen sized bed and ended up with a room with a wall in pink and a wall in grey! I still loved the grey and to make it a little more fun I added the cloud wall pattern and the raindrops!

So lets see!

I know that I mentioned that this room is going to be a DIY room on a budget but I bet you were not expecting this many DIYs!

I love how the bright light pours into this room!

My favourite DIY project has to be The ferry light canvas is a DIY which is to be featured really soon!!

Actually it is a toss between the DIY marbled ikea dresser or the DIY ferry light cannvas!!

Both these projects were super fun!! and easy and they will be up on the blog soon.

Moodboard for girls bedroom

Maybe I got overboard or the room actually does need all this to get it in shape!!!

If you don’t know, I am talking about this room. It belongs to my daughter and it needs help!!!

So far I have made progress with the feature wall.

Now!! the rest of the room! I have been going over all the inspiration and the pinterest boards

This is the predominant color palette and the prints ofcourse will blend in some chevron some marble and some dhurrie textures with poms poms and tassels.. hmmmmm dreaming!!!!!

 

1.Floating shelves  I think I have a quick fix for them 😉 you will see..

2.dhurrie rugs: The boho in me won’t just let go, and the colors are absolutely divine!!

3.Storage boxes Need like a ton of those! Ok maybe one or two at least!! and in chevron plz

4. dream catcher: this is one of the recent obsession and i feel its going to look amazing

5. tutu wall hanging What girls room is complete without one of these!!

6. white garden stool how cute is this “Pawn garden stool” 🙂 it just makes me smile and its perfect for the baby girls room.

7. copper mirror  A pretty basic mirror is what will do

8. heart pillow I am in love with this one!!

9. ferry light monogram Who wouldn’t want their name all lit up on the wall!!! I think it will be a fantastic self esteem boost for a six year old 🙂

10. piggy bank  I am encouraging her to save her pennies!!! This will be darn cute.

11. tassel pillows OBSESSSSED with tassels and pom poms!!!! and this pillow is just hitting the spot!

12. cloud decal nothing extravagant or girly.. Something naturally sweet like a cloud and some raindrops!!

13. DIY pom pom pillow Pom POms everywhere!! its a girls room after all!

I am really excited about this project!! lets see how it all turns out!!!

DIY Feature Wall : Color block wall

I finally got down to business!! I shared my ambitions about my little girl’s room update here before pics!

 

I vowed to take the room some place other than being this dreary! But i have to admit.. I met alllllot of obstacles on the way..

I decided upon two colors and I finally figured out that I am going for a colorblock wall. For a loooooooong time the room stayed this way! :O :O

Than there was the loooooooooong color debate.. I had the original pink of the wall and than i had the purple that i was quick to pick.. so whats more should i add!

 

Than there was the pattern debate! which way to go and which to work out! the procrastination took over and the debate went on and on and on!

Finally! i took out the ladder and i was at work!

and soon it went from this to this…

 

 

I love the softness of the look and the creamy pastels!!! now the room has stareted its girly journey!

The fresh coat got the place from blaaaaaaaah to absolutely wow!!

I am in love with the clean lines and the colors!!!!!!! A fresh new start for a dull room!!

notice the detail i added to the corner by adding some chunky slanted stripes!!

I will be sharing more progress… 🙂 🙂 but this wall reallllly got me going.. 🙂
