DIY Canvas light art

If you followed my daughters room makeover process!! on my wishlist was a light art project! View more of my moodboard here!!! And the complete room makeover is here and here!

For this DIY I had on my hand some canvas and some ferry lights and I had to make them work!!!

1. Mix up the paint color of your choice. I used the color I used for the colorblock wall!! It was bit tough to work with! But It turned out fine.
2. Considering I was using wall paint on canvas for an easy application i used this foam brush thing! It gave much cleaner application and was very east to use!

3. Next I used a pencil to sketch the letters. The font I used was a double lettered font. I drew a line in the middle and on that I dotted around 1 inch apart. That is where I wanted to insert ferry lights.

4. To punch holes I used this screwdriver! Make sure you count the dots carefully to avoid any awkward gaps! I used two ferry light strings of 100 bulbs. So I divided equally 200 dots for the holes!

5. Start punching!

This is what it looked like when I punched all the dots. Now I had 200 evenly dsitributed holes!

6. Insert the ferry light bulbs!!!

For finishing I just traced the outlines with a gold marker! ANd Ta-daaaa!!!

DIY Girls bedroom makeover: reveal

Finally the day of reveal is here!!

There are always days which feel like its never gonna happen, deadlines that are missed, and projects that go oh-so-wrong!!

But nothing compares to the swellness of a finished polished room.. I am proud to present the room it was before and the room it is now..

TA-DAAAAA…..

A colorblocked wall room in the softestet shades of pinks and pastels!!!!!!!!

This was a looooong and a very exciting project for me! It was full of DIYs and allllot of changes. The idea was to create a girly space with the minimum expense. The bed was the same needed but was asking for a major!!! headboard update. I first intended to make a fluffy headboard by sticking some fun fabric to it. (coz it was leather everything stuck beautifully) after trying a couple of opotion and couple of hours of sticking it didnt work. The headboard looked messy and less than inviting.. So for a cleaner space i draped these gorgeous dhurries over it to tie up the whole color scheme. I love how it adds character and the flufy thing becomes the centerpiece.. another easy DIY

First step of the transformation was ofcourse paint! I had to create a feature wall and for the whole process check out my post DIY Feature Wall : Color block wall . I am sure you will enjoy the glitches and the love this wall recieved.

For the side tables I added a geometric garden stool on one end and on the other I used this rtretrieved entertainment unit and gave it a coat of paint.. nAd I had plenty of storage and a home for all the pretty cupcake pillows and books and with the net hanging it turned into my daughters favorite reading nook!!!

These floating shelves for books are not actually from ikea.. well technically they are. When we moved to this house we bought a toddler bed for our daughter. On a whim y hussband bought this queen bed as well and suddenly there was no room for a toddler bed and it sat in pieces and logs under our bed for a long time gathering dust.When I saw those amazing floating shelves, it hit me the sides of the toddler bed could be used to the same purpose. My husband bought some L shape things (levers i guess dont know what they are called :D) and he attached the sides of the beds to the wall so it could work as the floating book shelf and can house the books that our little one own.

So these floating shelves practically cost me a dollar I guess!!!!

My favourtie feature has to be the mint whimsical star pillow with the pom poms!!!! I am in love with it !!! its just tooooo cuuuute!!!!!

The bedding is an old gift I don’t have the brand of it. The net hanging is from ikea and it has been upgraded with the tassles!!!

The paper lanterns are from Daiso and so is that heart garland!

The fur hanging over the bed is a DIY as well which is soon to be published!!!

What is the best feature of the room ?

 

Moodboard for girls bedroom

Maybe I got overboard or the room actually does need all this to get it in shape!!!

If you don’t know, I am talking about this room. It belongs to my daughter and it needs help!!!

So far I have made progress with the feature wall.

Now!! the rest of the room! I have been going over all the inspiration and the pinterest boards

This is the predominant color palette and the prints ofcourse will blend in some chevron some marble and some dhurrie textures with poms poms and tassels.. hmmmmm dreaming!!!!!

 

1.Floating shelves  I think I have a quick fix for them 😉 you will see..

2.dhurrie rugs: The boho in me won’t just let go, and the colors are absolutely divine!!

3.Storage boxes Need like a ton of those! Ok maybe one or two at least!! and in chevron plz

4. dream catcher: this is one of the recent obsession and i feel its going to look amazing

5. tutu wall hanging What girls room is complete without one of these!!

6. white garden stool how cute is this “Pawn garden stool” 🙂 it just makes me smile and its perfect for the baby girls room.

7. copper mirror  A pretty basic mirror is what will do

8. heart pillow I am in love with this one!!

9. ferry light monogram Who wouldn’t want their name all lit up on the wall!!! I think it will be a fantastic self esteem boost for a six year old 🙂

10. piggy bank  I am encouraging her to save her pennies!!! This will be darn cute.

11. tassel pillows OBSESSSSED with tassels and pom poms!!!! and this pillow is just hitting the spot!

12. cloud decal nothing extravagant or girly.. Something naturally sweet like a cloud and some raindrops!!

13. DIY pom pom pillow Pom POms everywhere!! its a girls room after all!

I am really excited about this project!! lets see how it all turns out!!!

DIY Feature Wall : Color block wall

I finally got down to business!! I shared my ambitions about my little girl’s room update here before pics!

 

I vowed to take the room some place other than being this dreary! But i have to admit.. I met alllllot of obstacles on the way..

I decided upon two colors and I finally figured out that I am going for a colorblock wall. For a loooooooong time the room stayed this way! :O :O

Than there was the loooooooooong color debate.. I had the original pink of the wall and than i had the purple that i was quick to pick.. so whats more should i add!

 

Than there was the pattern debate! which way to go and which to work out! the procrastination took over and the debate went on and on and on!

Finally! i took out the ladder and i was at work!

and soon it went from this to this…

 

 

I love the softness of the look and the creamy pastels!!! now the room has stareted its girly journey!

The fresh coat got the place from blaaaaaaaah to absolutely wow!!

I am in love with the clean lines and the colors!!!!!!! A fresh new start for a dull room!!

notice the detail i added to the corner by adding some chunky slanted stripes!!

I will be sharing more progress… 🙂 🙂 but this wall reallllly got me going.. 🙂
